Getting started
- Install CrossBatch from the Shopify App Store. It imports your open orders from the last 60 days.
- Add your machines, then add materials from a starter set for 3D printing, laser, CNC or apparel.
- Create product rules so new orders arrive with a material, machine and lead time already set.
- Optional: bring in Etsy orders under Settings, Channels. Forward Etsy's "You made a sale" emails to your CrossBatch address (a one-time Gmail or Outlook filter) and new Etsy orders arrive on their own; older orders come in from Etsy's Order Items CSV.
Common questions
Where do promised dates come from? From the lead time on the matching product rule, or the default lead time in General settings, counted in working days.
Can I upload the same Etsy file twice? Yes. Orders already on the queue are updated, not duplicated, and items Etsy shows as shipped move to Shipped. Orders that were already shipped before you started are skipped.
What happens when an Etsy order is canceled? If you forward Etsy's "Your transaction has been canceled" email too, CrossBatch cancels the job when it hasn't started, or flags it so nobody ships it when it's already in production.
How do I add tracking to an Etsy order? Mark the job shipped with its tracking number, then use Copy tracking number and Open order in Etsy on the job page and paste it into the order.
Why don't Etsy jobs get status emails? Etsy doesn't share buyer email addresses, in its order download or with apps, so CrossBatch can't email Etsy buyers. Etsy's own order messages still go out, and you can paste a proof link into an Etsy message.
How does proof approval work? On a job, upload a mockup and send the customer the link. The job waits in Awaiting proof until they approve it or ask for changes. You can set it to approve itself after a few days.
How do storefront options work? On the Studio plan, add personalization fields to a product (dropdowns or text boxes, required or optional) and add the CrossBatch block to your product template. Buyers' answers come through as line-item properties on the order.
What counts toward my plan's order limit? Each Shopify or Etsy order that creates jobs in a month counts once, however many items it has. Going over never stops orders from arriving.
How do I remove my data? Uninstall CrossBatch. Shopify tells us to delete your shop's data about 48 hours later, and we do. You can also email us. See the privacy policy.
